About Harry Potter

Harry Potter is a series of fantasy novels written by British author J. K. Rowling. The novels chronicle the life of a young wizard, Harry Potter, and his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The main story arc concerns Harry’s struggle against Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard who intends to become immortal, overthrow the wizard governing body known as the Ministry of Magic, and subjugate all wizards and Muggles. The original seven books were adapted into an eight-part film series by Warner Bros. Pictures, which has become the second highest-grossing film series of all time

Harry Potter is a half-blood wizard, and one of the most famous wizards of modern times. Early on his eleventh birthday, Harry learnt that he was a wizard. The majority of the books' plot covers seven years in the life of Harry Potter when he is studying at hogwarts. Fun fact is that Harry and Rowling share a birthday: July 31.

    Hermione Granger

Hermione Granger is a Muggle-born Gryffindor at Hogwarts. She becomes best friends with Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. She is an overachiever who excels academically. J.K. Rowling slightly based 11-year-old Hermione on herself at the same age. Over 500 girls have been named Hermione since the first 'Harry Potter' movie came out.

  • Ron Weasley

    Ron Weasley

Ron is a pure-blood wizard and met Harry on their first day at Hogwarts. Ron is a very funny person, but often emotionally immature, and insensitive. He has a sardonic, wisecracking sense of humour that often brings his friends laughter and relaxation.

He who must not be named

Rowling revealed on Twitter that she always intended the 't' in Lord Voldemort to be silent even if she's the only one who pronounces it like that. Maybe he's French? Vol de mort in French means 'flight of death.' I guess it doesn't really matter since we're not supposed to be saying his name anyway!
